The River by Michael Neale is a story of a young man’s draw to the river and overcoming his fear and finding his way to forgiveness and restoration.
Gabriel Clark watched his father John, a whitewater guide, drown as a young boy. Raised by his single mother he never overcame his anger at, and fear of the river. After high school an old classmate invited him to go on a vacation to Colorado where he met a girl, Tabitha, he was drawn to. She talked him into going with the group on a whitewater raft trip, the beginning of the journey for him.
Tabitha invites Gabriel to spend the summer at The River, and work at her dad’s guide camp. The story that unfolds is compelling and unexpected. You want the tale to continue and hope for a sequel.
I have to admit I do hope there is a sequel. I enjoyed the book and would recommend it.
I received this ebook free from NetGalley and Thomas Nelson Publishers for an honest review.
