SINTHE SINNERS GARDEN is William Sirls second novel and I think it may be the best, although I did enjoy the first one also. Fourteen year old Andy is a bitter young man because of a scar on his face, that he believes his mother caused. His Uncle “Rip”, or Gerald Ripley, is an ex-convict because of drug selling and is the only one he trusts. His mother’s best friend is Heather a police officer. Heather joined the police because her father was murdered when she was a teenager, and the case was never solved. The little town experiences some weird break-ins where the perpetrator leaves gifts instead of taking anything, so the phrase Summer Santa is coined. Who is the Summer Santa? Who murdered Mr. Hart and Heather’s dad? What is happening to Andy? What is God doing in this small community? The ending will be a surprise and the book is a very interesting story almost a parable. William uses some of his own past experiences to frame this narrative. It is a very intriguing story and well worth your time to read it. I received this book free from Thomas Nelson Publisher’s for an honest review.
