What would you do if a relative you haven’t seen in years and barley remember suddenly reappears? Especially if their reappearing changes the family dynamics? That is the question posed to Sara in RUNAWAY SAINT by Lisa Samson.
Sara does not have a close relationship with her hippie mother and only a little better one with her dad. She and her husband Finn own a small printing company that specializes in original specialty work. When she is asked to take her aunt in after her 25 year absence she is unsure how to proceed.
Secrets always have a way of surfacing and often at the most inopportune time as in this situation. Family secrets are often the hardest to reveal and deal with. As is so often the case there a lot of misunderstandings and things left unsaid because of them.
Some people’s perception of Jesus is colored by the way he is portrayed by some in the church. Some see a ” ‘flat stern Byzantine Christ” as mentioned in the book, and others a fiery whip yielding man while others see the real loving Christ of grace and mercy.
This book will give you a lot to contemplate. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to all of us, at one time, “Runaway Saints”.
I received this book free for an honest review from Thomas Nelson Publishers.
